Research Paper Instructions:

For this assignment, you will be writing a research paper focusing on themes, characters, or literary devices in the stories "Sir Gawain and the Green Knight" and "Le Morte d'Arthur." Your paper should incorporate scholarly sources from Google Scholar to support your analysis and arguments.

 

Choose one of the following prompts based on your level of writing and understanding of the stories:

Level 1: Discuss the importance of the chivalric behaviors of loyalty and betrayal in "Sir Gawain and the Green Knight" and "Le Morte d'Arthur." How do characters demonstrate loyalty to their king, fellow knights, and personal values, and what are the consequences of betrayal?
"Level 2: Discuss the role and significance of religious beliefs in shaping the characters' actions and moral dilemmas in 'Sir Gawain and the Green Knight' and the concluding chapters of 'Le Morte d'Arthur.' How do religious principles influence the decisions of Gawain and Bedivere, and what does their adherence to or deviation from these beliefs reveal about the medieval worldview portrayed in the texts?"
