Evaluating the Song Dynasty

Consider the essential areas of an empire. They are:

unifying strategy, strong military, strong and honest bureaucracy, strong central government, standardized laws and money, global trade network, good infrastructure.

Choose 2 areas of empire that the song dynasty performed well and describe how the Song specifically excelled in those areas. Make sure that you define your crucial terms and that you not only use specific evidence, but you demonstrate how the actions taken by the Song served to strengthen the empire.

When you write your paragraph, you MUST follow the following format to earn all points:

Claim/thesis (state which two areas of Empire you think the Song Dynasty did best)

Define your key term, (Define the term for the first area: ex: Strong Infrastructure means...)

Evidence 1 (give a specific piece of evidence from the notes/reading that supports you giving them top grades for this area.

Explain evidence (explain why the evidence you gave is evidence that the empire is great in that area) Transition Word/phrase (transition to the next area of Empire--ex "Another way that...")
