Choose ONE of the following prompts to write a Long Essay (LEQ) for Unit 3. Write your essay on Microsoft Online so that your work saves as you go. All of these prompts deal with the historical reasoning skill of cause/effect, comparison/contrast, or continuity/change over time. (If you talk about cause and effect, similarities and differences, or how things stayed the same or changed, you will get a point on the rubric) Remember, your essay is graded on the following: Context (providing background information in the introduction or explaining what will happen in the future because of your topic) Claim or Thesis (An argument that directly addresses the prompt without simply restating it. Usually, giving an original argument and providing categories/themes of analysis will help you accomplish this. Think PIECES) Evidence (One point for giving at least 4 specific historical examples related to your topic. One point given for elaborating on your evidence and explaining how proves and is relevant to your claim/thesis) Historical Reasoning (One point for analyzing comparison/contrast, cause/effect, or continuity/ change in your essay. One point for showing a complex understanding of history, including persuasively addressing a different perspective or counterclaim in your essay)
