LAHS Social Studies Current Events Writing Assignment

Use internet resources to look at current news stories. For example, look at google/news. Then find a news story that relates to an issue that is important to you and your community. Write a paragraph that explains the news story, and a second paragraph about how and why this news story is important to you and your community.

First Paragraph Sentence 1 (intro) - Identify the news story Sentence 2 (body) - Explain the news story in more detail. Sentence 3 (body) - Provide further analysis of the news story. Sentence 4 (body) - Continue to provide further analysis of the news story. Sentence 5 (conclusion) - Restate the main point of the news story, but use different vocabulary than you used in the first sentence
